This MP3 player by sony uses atrac audio files. you must use sonic stage, a free download from sony, or windows media player to manage your files, this will not work with itunes, although you can plug this mp3 player to your mac to charge it up, you can also use this is a thumbdrive to transfer/hold files. This unit offers excellent battery life and in my opinion blows the ipod out of the water in terms of quick charge up time and very long lasting battery life, I typically go a few days in between battery charges whereas my ipod nano which is newer has to be recharged everyday. This player charges via mini-USB connection to PC or MAC. Some light scratches from typical use
