TEAC 80-8 Tascam, eight track multi-track recorder, old school, was introduced in1976 and sold for around $3500. The eight tracks on a 1/2 inch tape allowed serious multi-track recording with a modest budget and resulted in many semi-pro demo studios and vanity home studios. Two machines could even be slaved for a sixteen track product. Classic groups of the mid-70s like Boston and Kansas recorded hit albums using the 80-8 recorder. The record and playback heads are in fine condition, tape transport mechanisms show very little wear and all meters light . I am unable to test further without tape which is available in the Vancouver market I understand. There are some cosmetic imperfections of missing veneer on the cabinet but otherwise the unit seems complete. Asking $275 to give you incentive to buy local. Two recent sales on ebay were US$250-300 plus shipping US$100-140 so buy it now and save the hassle. Call 604 751 0732
